As some of you may or may not know, I am scheduled to fly out on Friday to my next EMI project trip to Léogâne, Haiti (you can find more information about the project below).
However, Hurricane Irma is now putting our plans in question as it could impact Northern Haiti on Thursday and potentially southern Florida on the weekend. We are currently scheduled to fly into Miami on Friday night and depart for Port-au-Prince on Saturday morning.
While the exact timing and location of Irma on the weekend is still not 100% certain, we are exploring backup plans. Please pray...
...for all those in the path of this hurricane (currently Category 5) including the Leeward Islands, British/US Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Turks and Caicos, Bahamas, Cuba and the US.
...for wisdom in decision-making for our travel plans.
...that it will work for us to be able to provide design services to serve this ministry.
A Medical Training Facility in Haiti...
Our team will be serving the Episcopal University of Haiti (UNEPH) in Léogâne (~30 km west of Port-au-Prince) to design a medical training facility for their Medicine & Health Sciences program. The facility will be located adjacent to their existing nursing school. EMI has also recently design a hospital for the Episcopal Diocese in the same town.
The UNEPH has partnered with the Medical Benevolence Foundation (MBF) in the US to help fund the construction of this facility. EMI's design will give the University a good direction as they prepare construction, and will also be used in MBF's application for USAID funding.
This facility will help provide Haiti with more desperately needed, well-trained doctors.
